I am registered on Listserve.com , so every single day I receive an email from a "John / Jane Doe". Today, I got the message you can read below and I felt it was interesting to share it here. I have to be honest. I think this is a great concept and I'm glad that it got such a great reception. I am really happy to have been chosen but to be honest I'm not particularly well spoken. I'm an artist and just started a job in June making a video game called Mage Faire Online. This is where things get interesting... I absolutely love it but if it has taught me anything, besides the ridiculous amounts of real world experience I've gotten so far, it is that everything, even your dream job can have ups and downs. It's amazing to think that something that you always want your entire life can have ANYTHING negative to it, but that's life. So, then what did this lead me to realize? People buying the popcorn in the cinema lobby had glazing eyes when looking at the poster. Remember, that was before there were DVDs. People were indeed watching movies in the cinema, and not downloading them online. Imagine the packed seats, the laughter, the excitement, the novelty. And mostly all of that without 3D computer effects. Do you know who won the Oscars that year? The academy award for the best movie went to Out of Africa . The Oscar for best foreign movie that year went to The Official Story . The top actor was William Hurt for his role as Luis Molina in Kiss of the Spider Woman . The top actress was Geraldine Page for her role as Carrie Watts in The Trip to Bountiful . The best director? Sydney Pollack for Out of Africa . In the year 1985, the time when you arrived on this planet, books were still popularly read on pa...
